CCTT Secretariat participated in the third meeting of the Task force on the project "Transportation of postal items by rail".
On April 24, 2018 in Bern (Switzerland) held the third meeting of the Task force on the project "Transportation of postal items by rail" under the auspices of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), which was attended by CCTT Deputy Secretary General Natalia Stepanova.
The event was attended by representatives of the Universal Postal Union, the World Customs Organization, OSJD, CIT, OTIF, postal services of Belarus, Germany, China, Poland, Russia, France, customs authorities of Germany, China, Poland.
During the meeting, reports were heard on the results of pilot trains with postal items from China to Europe; issues of possible impact of the EU customs legislation on the development of the Project, problems related to the transit of postal goods were discussed.
Special attention was paid to the forthcoming Guide on the transport of international mail by rail. The document is intended to be fundamental for the development of the Project and further activities of all its participants.
In accordance with the Memorandum of cooperation signed on 18 March 2016 between the CCTT, UPU, and CIT, the CCTT takes an active part in the activities of the Project task force within the framework of work on attraction of additional volumes of goods for TSR in the form of postal items.
Following the results of 2017, 32 pilot containers (TEU) were transported as a part of container trains passing from Chongqing and Yiwu to Germany and Poland.
