CCTT held V Business Forum in Tokyo

On 23 - 24 May 2019n was held the V CCTT Business Forum "Transsib in Euro-Asian Transportation System - New Opportunities and Perspectives" with the support of the Association of Trans-Siberian Intermodal Operators of Japan (TSIOAJ), JSC "Russian Railways", the Ministry of Transport of Russia, the Embassy and Trade Representation of the Russian Federation in Japan, the Eurasian Economic Commission, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan (MLIT), the Japanese Business Federation "Keidanren", the Japanese Association for Trade with Russia and Newly Independent States "ROTOBO".
The purpose of the forum is to form a positive image of the Trans-Siberian service, to inform manufacturing enterprises in Japan about the advantages and economic benefits of cargo transportation in Euro-Asian traffic using the Trans-Siberian Railway.
The Forum was opened by Gennady Bessonov CCTT Secretary General and Kenjiro Masuda, CCTT Deputy Chairman and President of the Association of Trans-Siberian Intermodal Operators of Japan (TSIOAJ). The Forum was attended by over 200 participants and guests, including those from Japan, Russia, China, South Korea, Germany and Switzerland.
Within the framework of the forum on May 23 in the Trade Representation of the Russian Federation in Japan was held a round table to discuss problematic issues related to the organization of multimodal container transportation. Deputy General Director of JSC "Russian Railways" - Head of the CFTC Shilo A.N. gave comprehensive answers to the questions of the Japanese side.
In the course of the Plenary session held on May 24 in Keidanren, successful intermodal container services offered on the Trans-Siberian route were presented.
From the Russian side, the greeting speeches were made by Dmitry Birichevsky, Russian Minister Counsellor to Japan, Emil Kaikiev, Member of the Board (Minister) for Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Vladimir Tokarev, Deputy Minister of Transport, and Alexander Misharin, First Deputy General Director of JSC "Russian Railways".
The experience of Japanese shippers in using the Trans-Siberian route for international cargo and passenger transportation was shared by the representative of the Ministry of Lands, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan Ryo Kuvana, the representative of the Japanese Association for Trade with Russia and Newly Independent States ROTOBO Takafumi Nakai, the representative of the Association of Trans-Siberian Intermodal Operators of Japan Masao Sakurai and the representative of the prefecture Toyama Yeshiko Ogino
The presentations of the Kaliningrad Railway, FESCO, Global Ports, CCLIP, which presented new logistics solutions for Japanese freight forwarders were received with great interest. Digital Logistics Ltd. and STM Ltd. introduced the participants to new IT solutions in logistics in international freight traffic, and a representative of the Federal State Enterprise "Departmental Guard of Railway Transport of the Russian Federation" spoke about how to ensure the safety of goods transported by container trains on the TSM.
The Japanese side noted that the CCTT site is the most effective mechanism for the implementation of transit transportation projects from Japan to Europe and Russia along the Trans-Siberian route.
According to the results of the Forum, its importance was noted, which contributes to the development of bilateral relations between Russia and Japan, as well as the development of international multimodal transportation. The annual holding of the Forum in Japan over the past five years has made it possible to increase the attractiveness of railway transportation on the Trans-Siberian Railway when compared to the traditional sea transportation in the Japanese market.
