Eurasian Economic Comission (EEC) cooperates with International Coordinating Council on Trans-Eurasian Transportation (CCTT)
The unprecedented growth rate of transit requires accelerated development of railway infrastructure, as well as unlocking the potential of digital logistics. Compared to 2015, transit traffic in the EAEU showed a five-fold growth. Last year, the figure reached almost 900 thousand containers. This demonstrates the role of the EAEU as a bridge between Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. This was stated by Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission Temirbek Asanbekov at the XXX Anniversary Plenary Meeting of the International Coordinating Council on Trans-Eurasian Transportation (CCTT).
"Today the transition from paper transportation documents to electronic ones is in rapid progress. The next stage is the conversion to electronic format of shipping documents," said the EEC Minister.
The most important competitive advantage of the EAEU railroads is the common transportation technology on the basis of the common standard of 1520 mm gauge. The basic principles of a flexible tariff policy and common approaches to infrastructure access are enshrined in the Treaty on the Union, and this advantage can be fully realized.
He stressed the importance of interaction between the Commission and the CCTT in implementing strategic plans aimed at uniting the efforts of state authorities in the field of transport, railway administrations, leading international organizations and institutions to solve prospective problems of improving the efficiency of railway transport.
In this regard, it is necessary to jointly participate in the implementation of the road map for 2021-2023 to implement the main directions of coordinated (coordinated) transport policy, as well as the Action Plan for the digitalization of freight rail transport between the Eurasian Economic Union and the People's Republic of China. It is also important to create conditions for the development of multimodal transportation, introduce advanced digital technologies in the organization of the transportation process, improve safety, security and environmental friendliness of this segment of the transport market.
Temirbek Asanbekov noted the significant role and contribution of the International Coordinating Council on Trans-Eurasian Transportation to the development of railway transportation and cooperation between railways in the EAEU space.
"We highly appreciate the efforts that the CCTT makes to our common cause of ensuring Euro-Asian transport links. Railways form a reliable framework for Eurasian integration and are certainly one of the main drivers of the EAEU economic development.
