On November 16, 2021, Secretary General of CCTT Gennady Bessonov took part in the Fourth Forum on Euro-Asian Connectivity and Industry Cooperation, held in the framework of the FERRMED Annual Conference.
The forum was focused on practical aspects of increasing the contribution of rail transport in international traffic, the reorientation of cargoes carried by other modes of transport to rail, as part of the work to implement a European «Green Deal».

In his welcome speech to the forum and his thematic report, Gennady Bessonov outlined the importance of concentrating the efforts of representatives of all modes of transport and the logistics industry to ensure effectively functioning transport links and reliable supply chains.
«In order to achieve the necessary synergy, it is extremely important to exchange the information on potential projects, both in the infrastructure field and in areas such as innovative, digital technologies in transport and logistics. The synchronization of activities will increase coordination and efficiency in such important tasks as accelerating the movement of goods and facilitating border crossings» the CCTT Secretary General explained.
He highlighted environmental sustainability, which is one of the advantages of rail transport, and the implementation of digital technologies in transport.
The main challenges for the digitalization of international transport corridors are digital logistics and interoperability and the integration of digital technologies.
This is the goal of the CCTT projects "Electronic Train", "Integrational Digital Platform", "Security and Electronic Seals".- Gennady Bessonov noted.
He also appreciated the opportunities opening up for rail transport with the implementation of projects for the transportation of postal items and e-commerce cargoes between China and various countries on the Eurasian continent. To this end, the CCTT, in collaboration with the UPU, has developed a roadmap for the implementation of a pilot project of international postal items paperless transportation in container trains.
Inviting partners to further active cooperation, Gennady Bessonov stressed: «Trans-Eurasian routes are not only transport corridors for the exchange of goods between countries. This is a common space of reliability, partnership, business cooperation and cultural exchange».
