On 2-3 March 2022, the CCTT Secretariat participated in an ESCAP expert meeting on the Legal Framework for Multimodal Transport Operations in the Asia-Pacific Region
At this meeting, representatives of member States, international organizations, transport companies and associations considered the proposed structure of guidelines on harmonization of legal frameworks for multimodal transport operations in Asia and the Pacific and shared their experiences, proposals and best practices in multimodal transport in the Asia-Pacific region.
The CCTT Secretariat shared its vision of the main trends in multimodal Trans-Eurasian transportation, covering the issues of digitalization, development of terminal infrastructure, and mutual correlation between the development of international transport corridors and the network of transport and logistics centers.
The CCTT Secretariat drew the participants' attention to the activities of the Coordinating Council concerning the development of multimodality, including in the framework of the CCTT dedicated Working Group. Taking into account the importance of human capital for the implementation of transport and logistics projects, many of which implies multimodal transport operations, the participants were informed about the international conference on training and retraining of personnel for international transportation projects, to be held on April 5, 2022. The conference will be held by the CCTT jointly with the Russian University of Transport and the Association of Transport Universities.
In the context of ESCAP's regular and project activities, the study of the current national and international regulatory framework in the field of different modes of transportation used in multimodal transport is an important element to ensure a seamless and reliable interconnection of services provided by transport and logistics operators.
