On October 4, 2021, G.I. Bessonov, Secretary General of the CCTT, met with President of Toyo Trans Inc. Isao Takahashi.

In this meeting there was an exchange of opinions on the status and prospects of development of multimodal transportation between Japan and the European Union member states using the Trans-Siberian Railway. The growth of this type of transportation was noted with satisfaction. By the example of Trans-Eurasian transportations, performed by Toyo Trans Inc., the subject of multimodal transportations along the entire route was considered in detail. In order to further increase the cargo volumes it is expedient to work on the development of multimodal services on the eastern and western sections of the route, as well as to step up cooperation with the parties concerned in terms of speeding up border crossing.

The parties agreed to continue detailed discussion of the issues related to Trans-Eurasian transportations to/from Japan during the VII CCTT business forum "The Trans-Siberian Railway in the Euro-Asian transport system: new opportunities and prospects", which is scheduled for the third decade this November.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Toyo Trans Inc., JSC "Russian Railways", JSC "RZD Logistics" and the CCTT Secretariat.
