Post container trains are getting in motion!

On April 10, 2020, the first container train with post was sent from the Chinese city of Yiwu to Madrid. The train consists of 50 containers and weighs 350 tons with post inside. The operator of the train is InterRail Holding AG.
It was an outcome of the joint work of CCTT, Universal Postal Union (UPU), World customs organization (WCO) and China Post according to results of pilot shipments over the past three years.
Established container services of UTLC ERA for the transportation of goods in the China – Europe – China, due to the high speed and stability of cargo delivery, flexibility in volumes (which is especially suitable for the post item transportation being part of container trains), covering long distances and lower prices are more competitive compared to the air transport.
Since April 19, container trains are going to be sent on a regular basis 1-2 times a week from the Chinese city of Yiwu, Chongqing, Zhengzhou, Dongguan to European countries (Poland, Germany, Lithuania, Spain, etc.).
Since March of this year China Post has sent totally 955 tons of post by rail (including 3 separate trains) to 36 EU countries.
