Third International Meeting of UIC Partners and Members – Representatives of the Asia-Pacific Region

On September 24 this year, at the initiative of the UIC, the third international meeting was organized with key partners and members of the UIC-companies representing the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. The UIC meeting presented maps of the UIC strategic partnership in such areas as regional cooperation with organizations in the region, improving data quality, attracting investment in railway transport, technology exchange, consulting in the technological field and developing expert assessment.

The participants of the meeting, representatives of the WCO, OTIF, CIT, UNESCAP, OSJD, TRACECA and CCTT presented information on projects jointly implemented with the UIC in the development of international rail transport, as well as proposals for the development of specific further areas of joint work in the coming years. Representatives of the EBRD and ADB provided information on investment plans and financial support for transport projects.

Reference: 8 March 2012 in Paris was signed a Memorandum of cooperation between the CCTT and UIC, which developed a specific Program of cooperation in the field of transport policy, development of freight transportation, transport security and safety of goods and the development of IT technologies. In accordance with this program, CCTT and the UIC implement the joint work in the framework of the UIC project "Euro-Asian rail corridors" and Working groups CCTT: WG "North-South", WG "East – West", WG on development of Far-Eastern multimodal transportation, WG on harmonization of international transport law (development of freight transportation), CCTT project "Security train" and a subgroup of "Safety - crossing the border, the international corridors of the Working group of the UIC "Security Birc" (the transport security and safety of the goods), WG RIT (the development of IT technologies).
