Virtual Expert Group Meeting on the Legal Framework for Multimodal Transport Operations in Asia and the Pacific
The CCTT Secretariat participated in the virtual expert group meeting on the Legal Framework for Multimodal Transport Operations in Asia and the Pacific, which was held in Bangkok from 26 to 27 August this year.
An Expert Group Meeting on the Legal Framework for Multimodal Transport Operations in Asia and the Pacific was organized by the UNESCAP Secretariat in an online format in Bangkok from 26 to 27 August this year, as part of a project to strengthen the integration and sustainability of transport links in Asia and the Pacific.
The event was attended by representatives of the UNESCAP member States (Azerbaijan, China, India, Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Russian Federation, Thailand, Turkey and Turkmenistan), representatives of international organizations, research institutes, companies in the transport and logistics industry, as well as invited consultants. On behalf of the International Coordinating Council for Trans-Eurasian Transport (CCTT), the meeting was attended by Secretary General Mr. Gennady Bessonov and Deputy Secretary General Ms Natalia Stepanova.
During the meeting, representatives of ESCAP member States, international organizations and research institutes shared their views and views on the current state of the legal framework for the organization and development of multimodal transport in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as made presentations on key and regional issues that prevent the full deployment of multimodal transport in international traffic, and on possible ways to improve the harmonization of the designated legal framework.
The UNESCAP Secretariat provided an overview of existing legal instruments for multimodal transportation and suggestions on possible ways to advance the work on the harmonization of the legal framework for multimodal transportation for discussion and final decisions by the expert group.
