Container transit in connection with China for 10 months increased by 59%
The volume of transit container traffic in the period from January to October 2020 in connection with China increased significantly: in the direction China-Europe by 77% (total 306 thousand TEU), Europe-China by 28% (131.5 thousand TEU), China – Europe – China by 59% (437.9 thousand TEU). These data were announced by the Secretary General of the CCTT, Mr. Gennady Bessonov, at the XVIII International Conference "Transport Services Market: Interaction and Partnership".
The rise came on the Kazakhstan corridor growth in the border crossing Dostyk – Altynkol was 67.7%, Naushki – only 25,4%, and Zabaikalsk and other areas and is marked drop by 9.4% and 34.5%, respectively. Mr. Bessonov notes that the reason for the increase in the Kazakhstan direction was efficient technology – fast and good overload ability required Kazakhstan Railways. "I think that the growth trend will continue for the next year – the market is developing, there is a positive trend. There is an opinion that this is a good, reliable route" added the expert.
