Session of CCTT WG on harmonization of the International Transport Law (CCTT WG HITL)
The Session of CCTT WG on harmonization of the International Transport Law (CCTT WG HITL) was held on May 26, 2020 under the chairmanship of L.A. Renne, Deputy Head of the Department for foreign projects and international cooperation of OJSC RZD.
The conference was attended by representatives of the Railways of Russia, Belarus, Poland and the Baltic States, operators and freight forwarders, representatives of the international organizations OSJD, CIT, OTIF and the UNECE ITC.
During the discussions, the issues of updating international treaties and agreements regulating international rail freight transportation, using paperless technologies (application of SMGS electronic consignment notes, CIM/SMGS, INTERTRAN project, post transportation, amendments and additions to annexes 2, 3 and 6 to the SMGS) were discussed.
The CCTT WG on harmonization of the International Transport Law (CCTT WG HITL) is a unique platform where the CCTT brings together law enforcement agencies of the international regulatory framework on the one hand and international specialized organizations whose competence directly includes the development and updating of agreements and contracts regulating freight transportation in direct and mixed international traffic.
The main activities of CCTT WG on harmonization of the International Transport Law (CCTT WG HITL) in 2020 will be the geographical expansion of the CIM/SMGS consignment note and the use of its electronic version in the transcontinental transportation of goods, creation of a legal base regulating international multimodal transportation and participation in the creation of the agreement regulating the international carriage of goods by container trains.
