On 24 February 2022, Gennady Bessonov, Secretary General of the CCTT made a statement at the 84th session of the UNECE Inland Transport Committee on the development of Euro-Asian transport links.

Noting the importance of the Euro-Asian transport links (EATL) project, he focused in his speech on general trends, problems and challenges in Trans-Eurasian transportation.

"The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly transformed the supply chain picture. With border crossing restrictions and companies leaving the market that could not resist the impact, the industry had to provide services that could quickly and reliably meet the needs of the economy and society. As we know, it was only possible to achieve this together, in close international cooperation.

New Director General Masahiko Metoki, from Japan, and Deputy Director General Marjan Osvald, from Slovenia, were honoured during a handover ceremony at the organization’s headquarters today.

Ambassadors and representatives from permanent missions to the UN office in Geneva gathered at the UPU’s International Bureau in Berne, Switzerland, today to witness the transfer of powers from the outgoing senior leadership to Director General Masahiko Metoki and Deputy Director General Marjan Osvald.

Representatives of railroads, security companies, stevedoring, transport-logistics and engineering-industrial companies took part in the meeting.

Container transit in connection with China for 10 months increased by 59%

The volume of transit container traffic in the period from January to October 2020 in connection with China increased significantly: in the direction China-Europe by 77% (total 306 thousand TEU), Europe-China by 28% (131.5 thousand TEU), China – Europe – China by 59% (437.9 thousand TEU). These data were announced by the Secretary General of the CCTT, Mr. Gennady Bessonov, at the XVIII International Conference "Transport Services Market: Interaction and Partnership".
